Emmanuel Trotter Obituary

Emmanuel Torey Trotter was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on June 23rd, 2009. He was the last baby boy born of Tonya Trotter. Little brother to Anthony Spence, Justina, Solomon, and Joshua Trotter. He was a Sophomore at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in the music department. He began his piano journey at the Community Music School in Allentown, under Griffin Woodard, two years ago. Unable to read sheet music he initially learned his pieces purely by ear. His natural talent for the piano allowed him to memorize them and perform them at a level higher than what his experience should have allowed. He discovered a gift for the piano, and would easily spend hours on end practicing and cultivating his talent. His favorite composer was the great Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, and Manny's interpretations of his work would make Chopin proud. Manny beautifully played Chopin's nocturnes, waltzes, preludes, and sonatas, and he loved to listen to them. Some of his favorite pieces to play include: Aeolian Harp-Chopin, Waltz in C Sharp Minor- Chopin, Moonlight Sonata- Beethoven, Clair de Lune- Debussy. He listened to classical music every moment he could. From the time he woke up, in the shower, eating dinner, getting dressed, he always was playing classical music from his phone connected to a speaker or Airpods. His goal for 2025 was to learn Chopin's Opus 25, mastering all 12 etudes each month of the year, with the dream of one day entering the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition. He was funny, witty and jokey, and had a glowing smile. His quick and sharp humor never failed to make any of us laugh. He enjoyed cooking, when he had the ingredients he wanted, and going for walks, often without Mom's knowledge to her dismay. Naturally strong and athletic, Manny was always flexing his abs and biceps. He could lift heavy, run fast, and hit hard. In 2022 he attended, The Susquehannock Camp, against his will, where he spent half his summer that year. He made many friends from across the world, and even more memories, bringing home hilarious stories about his experience. He was ultimately happy and appreciative of the trip. Mom is always right! He was smart, always having good grades, achieving honor roll and making outstanding academic achievements. At the Arts Academy Charter Middle School he studied acting and singing, and was inducted into the National Honors Society. No matter the weather, temperature or season, he always wore one of his many hoodies, often ones given to him by his sister Justina. He was also very particular about shoes. Wearing shoes until they were falling apart, while his Mom pleaded with him to go shopping for new ones. Going shoe shopping with him still often ended with no new shoes. The nickname used by his family, "Manny", was exclusive only to them. He wouldn't allow friends or outsiders to use anything other than Emmanuel. Emmanuel "Manny" Torey Trotter will be forever loved and missed by his mother Tonya, his sister Justina, his brothers Anthony, Solomon, and Joshua, his sister in law Ashley, his grandparents Andrew and Betty, his aunt and cousins Pamela, Jazmyn, and Joy, close family friends Steve, Martine, Lou George, the Brabham family, the Louesy family, Milagros and Millie, Griffin, Jack, Kendall, Ethan S, Ethan D, Axel, Jaylen, Jaden, Tuari, Matthew and a multitude of other family, friends, classmates, teachers, neighbors - a community of ALL hearts he ever touched. Your song will play and live in our hearts forever Services: 4 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 1629 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown. A viewing will be held 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Emmanuel Torey Trotter, please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.

My 9 year old son studies under Griffin as well. During a recent lesson Griffin asked us to listen to the pianist in the adjacent studio. At the conclusion of our lesson we knocked on Manny´s studio, he and Luka briefly jammed out on the piano playing "Jingle bells". It was a brief encounter but Manny left an impression on Luka.

We are sorry for your loss, in that brief encounter it was clear that he was a gifted musician and person.

The William Allen High School Theatre community is saddened to hear of the passing of Emmanuel. While we did not know him, we know his brother Josh, and if Emmanuel is anything like Josh the world lost a truly gifted individual. Please know we are thinking of you.
