Frances Thornton

Frances Thornton, 78, of Palmer Township, PA, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Abington Manor Memory Care Village. Born April 22, 1947, in Abbeville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Mammie (McCloud) Kelley. She and her husband, Clarence Thornton, Jr., celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on January 21, 2025. Frances retired from Binney & Smith, Forks Township, where she worked for 34 years. She loved going on walks and greeting others along her way. Frances was an avid reader and enjoyed computer puzzles. Frances was a member of Greater Shiloh Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, new member coordinator, usher, and mother of the church. Surviving in addition to her loving husband, Clarence, is a daughter, Carla Thornton, of Palmer Township; five brothers, Sam Kelley, of Allentown, John and Walter Kelley, both of Easton, and Leander and Bobby Kelley, both of Bethlehem; three sisters, Minnie Hargrove, of Pen Argyl, Carldine Williamson, of Abbeville, AL, and Ella Kelley, of Allentown; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Services will be held at 11am Thursday, May 8th in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough.
