Gary Martin Obituary

Gary D. Martin, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. He was 74 years old. Born in Northeast Philadelphia on February 9, 1951, Gary was the son of the late Harold "Dutch" and Margaret (née Bombay) Martin. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (née Charles), with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. In addition to his devoted wife Joanne, Gary is survived by his four sons: Christopher (Jennifer), Stephen (Lindsay), Gregory, and Nicholas; seven cherished grandchildren: Benjamin, Bradley, Zachary, Vincent, Madeleine, Lillian, and Emma; and his brother Joseph (Gayle). Gary lived a full and meaningful life centered around faith, family, service, and hard work. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 24 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. His career spanned several decades, including roles at Pierce Phelps, Philco Ford (1972–1981), Montgomery County IU (25 years), SmithKline (2 years), and service with the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Police. A man of many interests, Gary had a lifelong love of science fiction and cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and his beloved dogs. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Gary's Life Celebration on Friday, October 3, from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton St., Norristown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at the church. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary's name may be made to Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, PA. https://lastchanceranch.org/ Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
