George Kocher Obituary

George Albert Kocher III, 78, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, Easton, PA and currently North Port, FL died Friday, May 9, 2025 in North Port. He was the son of the late George II and Viola R (Schneebeli) Heller. George spent his life working with cars. He owned Kocher's Garage in Forks Township, fixing and selling cars to several generations in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his children racing quarter midgets in PA and travelling across the country to special racing events. He continued his love of cars by building his own street rods before retiring in 2000. Always being a hustler, he began buying houses in 1982, rehabilitating them and renting apartments. He also rehabilitated the blighted property on Freemansburg Ave where the current Enterprise rent-a-car is located, in 1985. George enjoyed this process and focused on real estate development after retiring from the garage business. A graduate from Easton High School in 1965, George still attended class breakfasts while he was in town, staying connected to his roots. George is survived by his son Robert Kocher and his wife Annmarie and granddaughter Mallory. He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene (Sullivan) in 2020 and his son, Michael Kocher in 2017. Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

I had the pleasure of working for George at his property in NJ and in Easton, PA on the side for a few years. George was a wonderful, kind-hearted guy to work for. He would always teach me something new and had many great stories to share. I will treasure the time I was able to spend working for him and will remember everything he has taught me. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and loved ones!

George was a good friend to many of us. He and I met in 7th grade and had many adventures. He was one of the most popular guys in our class at EAHS.
He wished me a happy birthday in April and left this note: Happy Birthday Rich, we made another one. I'm hoping for 80 now just 2 to go. Hoping we can make it together.
