Gladys G. (Lemke) Ritting, beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on September 28, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, Gladys lived a life filled with love, devotion, and family.
A 1946 graduate of Roxborough High School, Gladys devoted herself to her profession as a secretary, first at Wyeth Laboratories in Malvern and later as an office manager at Ritting Brothers Asphalt Striping Service in Philadelphia. However, her greatest joy came from her role as a devoted homemaker, wife and mother supporting her husband and nurturing her son.
Gladys enjoyed a beautiful marriage to her late husband, William A. Ritting, Jr., for 55 wonderful years. Together, they created lasting memories, whether it was roller skating or ballroom dancing at the Atlantic City Steel Pier and other ballrooms throughout the region. They shared a passion for travel, particularly to Florida, where they made unforgettable memories as a family. Gladys always had the motorhome ready for her family's passion to follow auto racing at Daytona or local tracks.
Gladys had a warmth that enveloped all who knew her. She loved being surrounded by her family and was known for her unwavering support, always having her loved ones' backs through life's challenges. Her inclination for sewing showcased her skill, as she crafted clothing for herself and those she adored.
Gladys is survived by her loving son, William A. Ritting, III; two granddaughters, Allison and Megan Ritting; and many beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by a father, Ernest Emil Lemke; mother, Gertrude (Schultz) Lemke and sister, Dorothy Erna Green.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 with a burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery in Abington. Family and friends may attend a viewing beginning at 10 AM.
