James Cadira Obituary

James Joseph Cadira, born on November 24, 1942, in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain, entered the eternal presence of his Lord on March 3, 2025. James, known for his faith-filled heart and friendly demeanor, was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew him. James was the cherished son of the late James and Concepcion Cadira as well as step-son to the late Carrie Cadira. His life was a testament to devotion, as seen in his loving marriage of over 47 years to his beloved wife, Patricia (Lane) Cadira. Together, they built a family founded on love and faith. In addition to his loving wife Pat, he is survived by his children James Cadira, Jr. and his wife Marianne, Loretta Antorino, Stephen Cadira and his wife Tammy, Paul Kocher and his wife Melissa, Laurie Kreidler and her husband Mark. He was the proud brother of Frank Cadira. He was the grandfather to Matthew, Nicholas, Jennifer, Sara, Cassandra, Amanda, Brianna, Aaron, Gabrielle and Paige and he had eleven great-grandchildren. A proud graduate of Easton High School, James's dedication to his country was evident through his honorable service in the United States Air Force. His professional life was marked by his employment at the Bethlehem Steel and then at Foster Wheeler, where he worked as a draftsman until his well-deserved retirement. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his career. James's interests were a reflection of his loving spirit. An avid runner, he found joy in the discipline and challenge of marathons, particularly the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington. His love for animals was profound, and together with Pat, he adopted many German shepherds and a few cats, filling their home with the warmth of furry companions. James's love was not reserved for animals alone; he was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to his family. His devotion to his wife Pat was unparalleled; he enjoyed spoiling her, as she was his everything. James's faith was the cornerstone of his life. A faithful and devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, he served as an usher and Sunday School Superintendent. In his later years, he became a member of First Baptist Church, Allentown, where he continued serving as an usher, head usher and singing in the choir. He showed great heart in serving on the board of Child Evangelism Fellowship and as a volunteer with St. Lukes hospice, his devotion to Christ displayed by sharing the love of Jesus with them. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, and he lived as a true example of a born-again Christian. James will be remembered as a man who lived his values every day. His faith-filled approach to life, loving nature, friendly smile and unforgettable laugh touched the hearts of all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. His memory will continue to inspire those he left behind, and his spirit will be felt in the gentle kindness that permeates the lives of his family and friends. Services: A Funeral Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, 5300 Green Pond Road Easton, PA 18045 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 A.M. until time of the service. James's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com. Dear Pat, Frank, Paul, Melissa, Laurie, Mark, James Jr., Marianne, Loretta, Stephen, Tammy, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I am very sorry for your immense loss; my friend Jim was an old school gentleman who always carried himself with dignity and honor, always respectful, thoughtful and courteous towards everyone around him. He always told the truth and was not afraid to stand his ground whenever it was needed.
His deep voice and unmistakable laugh were his unquestionable trademark, although everyone knew that behind that deep voice and solemn appearance, there was a very caring, thoughtful and loving human being, especially when talking to Pat, his booming voice would mellow down and transformed himself into a tender, softspoken teddy bear.
Jim was a very talented and knowledgeable worker with an exemplary work ethic. His drawings were authentic displays of outstanding skill and workmanship, bold and precise line work, accompanied by the most distinguished and superb handwriting, the quality of his work was always recognized and admired by all his peers; as a senior structural designer he was always willing to share from the wealth of knowledge that he acquired mostly through his experience as a structural steel detailer at Bethlehem Steel. I remember whenever he had finished a thorough check of a drawing, I would marble when taking a glance at his work, the thoroughness, neatness, and precision of his work were extraordinary, one of a kind. I was blessed to work side by side with my friend, and to cherish many fond memories of our time together. I will always remember my good friend.
