James McMonigle Obituary

James Michael McMonigle, age 66, of Collegeville, PA, formerly of Norristown, PA, passed away suddenly on May 14th, 2025. Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late Bernard James and Anna Mae (Mackin) McMonigle. Jim was the beloved husband of Lori DeFelice-McMonigle, with whom he shared 25 wonderful years. He was a devoted and loving father to Kelsey and Brian McMonigle. He will be deeply missed by his best friend and brother Stephen, his sister Michele, and extended family members. Jim's circle of love reached far beyond family. He will be fondly remembered by countless friends and fellow members of the Norristown Maenner-Chor Club, the Norristown Fraternal Order of Police, the Montco Hero Foundation, his colleagues at Verizon, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jim spent over 20 years managing a warehouse at the Germantown depot for Verizon in Philadelphia. He was a proud graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School and went on to attend Penn State University. A true patriot, Jim served honorably in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He specialized in Missile Cable Systems and Maintenance, earning numerous ribbons and medals for his service. A lifetime member of the Norristown Maenner-Chor for over 45 years, Jim also served as its President. He was a proud member of VFW Post #7155 in Trappe, PA, and a founding member of the A.O.H. Notre Dame Division 1 of Montgomery County. Jim was a man of simple pleasures and unwavering loyalty. He had a rare gift for caring and providing for others, always giving without expecting anything in return. Affectionately known as "GOAT" (Greatest of All Time), a name that fit him in every way. Whether as a husband, father, friend, coach, colleague, or leader, Jim led with heart and humility. When he wasn't at work or the Maenner-Chor, he could be found on the golf course, cheering on his favorite sports teams, or spending time with those he loved most. His wife and children were his greatest joy and his deepest pride. Jim lit up every room he entered. He was deeply loved, widely respected, and will be missed more than words can express. Relatives and Friends are invited to his Life Celebration, Thursday, May 22, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 200 West Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA, 19401. A service will follow at noon. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made in his name to the MONTCO HERO FOUNDATION, P.O. Box 231 Eagleville, PA 19408-0231. Or to the MICHAEL PETRONE FOUNDATION, P.O. Box 242, Kulpsville, PA 19443. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of James Michael McMonigle, please visit our floral store.

My sincerest condolences to all those that loved Jim, he loved you all so much! He would come in nearly every day to play his lottery numbers. We would chat about the world, family, kids, etc. Aways, always, always had a smile on his face, happy, sincere, just an all-around great guy! Jim, may you spend all eternity in the kingdom of God and may your family find comfort in the wonderful times and memories.
