James Schmoyer Obituary

James Gibbon Schmoyer, 85, of Germansville, passed away in his home on December 13, 2024. He was the husband of Monika M. (Heusinger) Schmoyer. They were married for 65 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Verna M. (Gibbon) Schmoyer. After graduating from Lehigh University, he pursued a career with ALPO in Allentown from 1961 until retiring in 1991 as Senior Vice President. In his youth he joined the Boy Scouts and received his distinguished Eagle Scout Award. His diverse interests and accomplishments included serving as a former chairman of the Pet Food Institute from 1986-1988, involvement with the Lehigh Valley Humane Society and participating as a head coach for Northwestern Youth Wrestling from 1978-1982. He was an avid hunter. For many years, he enjoyed training, breeding and showing his beloved Newfoundland dogs. Survivors: Monika M. (Heusinger) Schmoyer (wife), Jason W. Schmoyer of Breinigsville (son), Jamie E. Cheety and her husband George of Sellersville (daughter), Sally A. Eosefow of Attelboro, MA (daughter), 3 grandchildren, Sean Eosefow, Brett Eosefow and Joshua Schmoyer and 2 great-grandchildren, Nellie Eosefow and Annabelle Eosefow. Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to The American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org
