Jim Hinton Obituary
James "Jim" R. Hinton, 80, of Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2025. Jim was the loving husband of Kathleen (Werkeiser) Hinton, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late Leroy and Wilma (Buck) Hinton.
Jim owned and operated his own electrical contracting business and later, worked at Sanofi on the maintenance staff. He retired in 2010. He loved the outdoors, fishing with his late brother, Jeff Hinton, and enjoyed hiking. Jim always found time to help others with electrical work or anything that they needed. He volunteered with PVEN and Christ Hamilton Church, singing in the choir, playing in the bell choir, and serving on the church's property committee, helping with the groundskeeping. Jim will be deeply missed by his loving wife, family, and friends
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Jim is survived by his sons: Michael Hinton and his wife, Kerri of Colorado; John Motz and his wife, Melinda of Reeders; and Eric Motz and his wife, Kelly of Virginia; daughters: Diane Dickison and her husband, Gene of Neola, and Emmy Savage and her husband, Steve of Ephrata; brothers: John Hinton and his wife, Barbara of Ohio; Robert Hinton and his wife, Nadine of Saylorsburg; and Glenn Hinton and his wife, Debbie of Saylorsburg; brothers-in-law: Terry Werkeiser and his wife, Hellen of Saylorsburg; Bill Werkeiser and his wife, Joanne of Saylorsburg; and Bruce Werkeiser of Florida; sisters-in-law: Linda Hinton of Saylorsburg; Donna Faulstick and her husband, Fred of Saylorsburg; and Chris Werkeiser of Florida; grandchildren: Alyssa and Megan Smale; Nathan and Matthew Savage; Savannah, Maddux, and Amelia Beth Motz; Graham Hinton; and Ali (Mike) Khorosh; and one great granddaughter: Annabelle Khorosh. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jeff Hinton, and his brother-in-law, Ted Werkeiser.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church, 419 Bossardsville Road, Stroudsburg. Church memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steven Claycomb officiating. A burial will follow at Gilbert Cemetery.
