Joan Cunningham Obituary

Joan Naomi Cunningham, of Langhorne, PA, passed peacefully on March 31, 2025. Born in Camden, NJ and raised in Blackwood, NJ, she was the loving daughter of the late Frank and Lulu (Cope) Gumpert.
Joan was a proud graduated of Haddonfield High School Class of 1955. She married the love of her life. John "Jack" Cunningham to whom she was married for 52 years. She and Jack planted roots and raised their family in Langhorne in a close-knit neighborhood, where she resided for over fifty-five years. Joan had a special talent and affinity for baking and making jellies. Her apple cake and peach cobbler were just a couple of favorites among those that loved her. She was artful in sewing and crocheting, often sharing her gifts with those closest to her. Together, Joan and Jack found great joy traveling and spending time with the grandchildren. They enjoyed block parties, pig roasts, barbeques, and birthdays with numerous neighbors over the years.
As a grandmother she loved to take her grandchildren to their mountain house in Locust Lake Village where they enjoyed hours on the lake, at the beach, taking golf cart rides and trips to get ice cream, as well as attending craft shows and county fairs.
An employee of the Neshaminy School District for 40 years, Joan was an upstanding member of her community, dedicating her life to the youth and making lifelong friendships within the district. Likewise, she was a member of the FOP Lodge 53 Ladies Auxiliary and Eastern Star Neshaminy Chapter #374. She spent the last two years as a resident of Holland Village Assisted Living where she was lovingly cared for and made many new friends.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2016. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Carol Alexis (Gary) and son, Thomas Cunningham and her dear grandchildren - Abigail Alexis (fiancé, Patrick Leininger) and Emily Alexis. She was the great-grandmother to the best pup, Pepper Leininger, and honorary grandmother of Kalena Randow (Matt), Cole and Bryce Alexis.

So sorry to hear of the passing on one special lady. I worked with Joan in Pupil Services and she was a wonderful person. We had a lot of laughs and sometimes we would meet after work for a meal and a drink. She had the stories. I added a picture of one of our lunches. We all enjoyed the time we spent together.
