Joseph Clark Obituary

Joseph P. Clark, 75, of Allentown, PA, passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Carbondale, PA he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Jennie (Potis) Clark.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan (Nieuwkerk), and his five children: Melissa G. Sterner, Angie Sterner-Vasquez, Kimberly Rosado-Beers (Kyle), Joey Clark (Alissa), and Bianca Clark (Dan). He also leaves behind grandchildren: James Cleary Jr., Sonny Rosado, Lola Clark, Max Clark, and Rex Clark; his sister, Marie Holleran; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A man of many passions and talents, Joe was an avid table tennis player and a proud member of the United States Table Tennis Association, holding a national player rating. He also took great pride in his involvement with Masonic organizations including Allen-Beaucent Commandery No. 20, Allen Council No. 23, Valley of Allentown Day Lodge, and as a 32° Mason.
Throughout his career, Joe was a visionary entrepreneur who opened and operated numerous bars and restaurants, including Joe's Cheesesteaks, The Dog House, The Windsor House, DJ Bananas, The Broccoli Garden, The Celery Garden, Café Le Rock, and Crocodile Rock Café. He was also a significant force in Allentown real estate, investing in and revitalizing many properties.
Joe was, above all else, a family man. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart and his greatest joy came from time spent with them. He worked hard his entire life, but he never let anything come before the people he loved. His legacy of love, generosity, and connection will live on through all those whose lives he touched.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Entombment in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, Wescosville.

I knew Joe for many years before his daughter took over the business. He helped many families I worked with secure housing and helped keep their families together.
He helped out a lot of people over the years taking them out of a crises situation and taking a chance on them. Rest in peace.

You know, I really liked Joe. When I worked at the Post Office at 5th and Ham in Allentown I would walk over to the Crocodile Rock for a couple slices of pizza and a Coke. My server was this genuinely friendly guy by the name of Joe. It wasn't until I retired from the P.O. and went into the swimming pool business that I learned from his wife Sue that Joe owned the cafe. Man, I really liked that guy. Rest in peace my friend, I will never forget you.

Gonna miss ya, many thanks for the opportunities you gave me over the years to open for headlining bands. And for getting me on the tour bus to meet Bret Michaels. Also your friendship at Home Depot in Whitehall. Proud to consider you a friend. Rest in Peace now and I will see you again when God calls on me.
