Karen Brown Obituary

Karen Louise Brown – April 21, 1950 – December 21, 2024
Karen Brown passed away at age 74, surounded by family in her home in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on December 21, 2024.
Karen Louise Boyles was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Evelyn Boyles and the late Stephen M. Boyles. Karen was the oldest of four children. She has two sisters, Eileen and Susan, and one brother, Stephen. Karen lovingly referred to her parents and siblings as her "first family," throughout her life, she prioritized continuously fostering her relationships with her family.
Karen graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1968. Her love of learning and enthusiasm for education led her to pursue a college degree in teaching. During college, she created friendships that lasted until the final days of her life.
She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1972. That same year, she began a 34-year career in elementary education. Her tender heart toward children and zealousness for teaching created an environment for her students to thrive. She made a legacy of friendship and love in the Pennsbury School District. Even after she retired in 2006, she maintained friendships with her fellow teachers.
On August 16, 1980, Karen started her "second family" when she married Thomas Joseph Brown Jr. The marriage began decades of friendship, companionship, and love. She and Tom welcomed their first son, Thomas Joseph Brown III, on October 25, 1981. Their second son, Christopher Daniel Brown, was born on February 26, 1986.
Karen had a special appreciation for holidays and an ability to create magical moments for her children and family. She had a special skill for baking, and every Christmas, she made dozens of festive cookies and treats that brightened the season. The family enjoyed spending time together at Lake Wallenpaupack and the beach – where Karen relished leisurely moments on the boat, reading (lots of mystery novels), and creating lifelong friendships.
Karen's second family continued to grow when Thomas Joseph Brown IV was born on January 25, 2015. Karen became arguably the best mom mom to Thomas. They both cherished the time that they had together on a weekly basis playing games, swimming together, bowling and watching movies.
Karen always wanted a daughter, and when Chris married Ashley Brown (Heil) on October 1, 2016, she got her wish. The two were instant friends sharing a love of gathering family around home-cooked meals, travel, and good conversation.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Brown Jr.; her sons, Thomas Brown III and Christopher (Ashley) Brown; grandson, Thomas Brown IV; mother, Evelyn Boyles; siblings, Eileen (Bob) Taylor, Stephen (Sandi) Boyles, and Susan (George) Hepp; sister-in-law Barbara Brown; and 13 nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to Karen's Life Celebration, Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, at Trinity Buckingham Church, 2631 Durham Road, Buckingham, PA 18912, and to participate in her Funeral Service at 2:00pm. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Midway Volunteer Fire Company, where her husband, Tom, has served for decades.

Mrs. Brown was a very caring and kind person. She was a teacher of mine in elementary school and helped me through a difficult time in my life as she was embattled with her own difficulties. She was such an unselfish person and I will never forget what she had done for me. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Our deepest sympathy on learning of the passing of Karen Brown. As a member of Trinity Buckingham, we had our young boys in Sunday school together. I have missed seeing her at chuch. Prayers for her and all the family. Sincerely, Mary Lou and Fred Erk
