Larry Gerberich Obituary

Larry Lee Gerberich, 73, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on January 23rd 2025. He was best known to those who loved him as Butbow or Old Deadeye. Larry was born on July 16th, 1951 to Daniel and Alice Gerberich in North Lebanon. After graduating from Northern Lebanon High School in 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army. He fought in theVietnam War And served in the Army from 1970-1972 and was honorably discharged. After coming home from the service he graduated from Northampton Community College with a two year degree. Larry then went on to work for Roadway Express for over 30 plus years. Larry met Sharon in Annville at the age of 16. They married July 22nd 1972 and were happily married for 52 years at the time of his passing. Larry and Sharon went on to have three children, Christina, Steven and Lori. After Larry's retirement from Roadway he worked for Brodhead Water and then drove for Family Promise for a couple of years. Larry was a leader for Troop 81 of the Boy Scouts and was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church of over 50 years. He enjoyed being a part of the Men's Prayer Breakfast at the church. Larry and Sharon were Philadelphia Phillies season ticket holders for over 30 years and enjoyed going to many games. Larry was an avid fisherman and hunter and one of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Larry was predeceased by his mother and father, Daniel and Alice; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Eva Smith. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three children, Christina and husband David, Steven and wife Jessica, and Lori. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ethan and Abigail Horvath and Ella and Addyson Gerberich. As well as his brother Kenneth and wife Brenda Gerberich and sister Linda Dubbs and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 S. Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg with visitation beginning at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM with Rev. Samuel Kofi Ashley officiating. Private burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made to the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church in Larry's name.

My dad was the best dad I have ever had I looked up to him every day I remembered before he passed away after Thanksgiving on a Friday I got to say goodbye to him I also before my dad passed away I got to tell my dad that I loved him and he said that he loves me to I'm going to really miss him I love you and I will truly miss you

A Vietnam Veteran has passed away today. Larry, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
