Leanna "Tuffy" Shoemaker

Leanna "Tuffy" Shoemaker, 83, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Tuesday evening, July 29, 2025 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice House - Pocono. She was the wife of Terry A. Shoemaker, Sr. with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Born on April 1, 1942 at home in Bushkill, she was a daughter of the late Herbert D. LaBar and the late Margaret M. (Van Why) LaBadie. She lived in Monroe County for most of her life other than for ten years when in Murrells Inlet, SC. In earlier years Tuffy worked as a waitress at the Union 76 Truckstop and Woolworth's Store and then later worked at K-Mart in East Stroudsburg for 25 years. She always enjoyed the Christmas holiday season. In addition to her husband, surviving are a son, Arthur Gilliland (Lisa) of Olsburg, KS; three step-children, Terry Shoemaker, Jr. (Wendy) of Ohio, Michael Shoemaker of Athens, GA, and Debra Strunk (Daryl) of Cresco; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Lou Carlson of East Stroudsburg, Linda George of Florida and Debra Bush of South Carolina; two brothers, Pete LaBar of Stroudsburg and Christian LaBadie of Analomink; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Linda Frisbie; and three sisters, Roberta Ace, Maryann LaBar and Elaine "Sue" Paragino. Services will be held on Monday, August 4th, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg where viewing will begin at 1:00PM and be followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in Prospect Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society.
