Leslie Warren Obituary
Leslie David Warren, an adored husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on December 10, 2024, following a stroke. Born on May 8,1942, in Perth Amboy, NJ to the late Leslie Michael and Ethel M. (Patten) Warren, Les was a man of integrity, warmth, and dedication. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Les's heart was truly at home with his beloved wife of 60 years, Maureen Eileen (Britton) Warren. He shared his childhood with his sister Lois and his late brother, James Warren, and together, they created lasting memories that Les would fondly recount throughout his life.
In 1964, Les graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport.
For fun, Les enjoyed many decades of motorcycle adventures with great friends, which took him across the country and throughout Europe. But, in line with his character, his most gratifying time on a bike was spent teaching motorcycle safety instruction classes in NJ to hundreds of riders over 20 years. His life, always driven by a genuine excitement to experience "it all," played out to a rich soundtrack, with Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Handel's Messiah, The Big Bopper, and The Rolling Stones all capturing the essence of Les's joie de vivre. Les, at a wedding, was never in his seat.
Professionally, Les was known for his leadership and strong work ethic. He dedicated many years to Tarkett Flooring, from which he retired as a Regional Manager. Throughout his career, Les never forgot his blue-collar roots. Born to a tradesman, Les was keen to fix anything and passed on his learned skill set to his children.
Les and Maureen's enduring partnership created a loving family, which includes their children: Scott Warren and his wife Wendy Keefe of Portola Valley, CA; Beth Warren of Brooklyn, NY; and, Megan Malvern and her husband David of Manhattan, NY. Les's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Grant and Clark Malvern, and Bridgit and Reed Warren. He is also survived by his loving sister, Lois Rotella, and her husband Ben of Edison, NJ, as well as countless friends.
Les was a guiding light to many who thought of him as a father figure, imparting wisdom, a sense of adventure, and a wealth of stories, laughter, and solid advice. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
