Martin Rawdin Obituary

Dr. Martin Rawdin, 90, of Lower Pottsgrove Township, PA, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, at Abington Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Myrna (Jacobson) Rawdin, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage until her passing on January 29, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 8, 1935, Martin was the son of the late Louis and Harriet (Burman) Rawdin. Martin attended high school in Brooklyn, NY, and went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. For more than four decades, he dedicated himself to his patients, proudly operating three successful practices in Pottstown, Royersford, and Phoenixville. A respected leader in his community, Martin served as past president of both Congregation Hesed Shel Emet and the B'nai B'rith Men's Group, roles that reflected his deep commitment to faith, service, and connection. In his spare time, he enjoyed following current events and engaging in thoughtful conversations about politics, loved traveling and cruising with his beloved wife, and was a lifelong car enthusiast. But more than anything, Martin treasured the moments spent with his family, who brought him endless joy and pride. Martin is lovingly remembered by his children, Mark Howard (Andrea Martorana) Rawdin, Dr. Penny Rawdin (Paul) Anderson, Dr. David Eric Rawdin, and Nancy Rawdin (Nicholas) D'Argenio; and his grandchildren, Adam Anderson, Elliot Anderson, Zachary Anderson, and Hannah D'Argenio. In addition to his wife and parents, Martin was predeceased by his brother, Bob Rawdin, and his twin sister, Lita Singer Rawdin. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., with interment afterward at Congregation Mercy and Truth Cemetery, located at Prospect and Hanover Streets, Pottstown, PA 19464. So sad to hear of Cousin Marty´s passing. He was the current patriarch of the family. We will miss him terribly. He was a loving husband Myrna and a wonderful father and grandfather. May his memory always be a blessing.

Marty Rawdin was a man who was generous with his time and emotions. He and his beloved Myrna visited Ireland, my country - and enjoyed it's beauty and humor, despite the rain. A good man, if ever there was one.
