Marvin Puryear Obituary

Marvin Puryear, 66, of Reading, passed away Saturday, March 15th, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. Marvin was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 16, 1958, son of the late Esther (Mabry) Puryear, brother of the late Ronald Dillard, and his sister the late Cynthia Williams. He worked at Astroland for over 30 years where he ran the Go-karts, and water flume. It was the highlight of his day to go to work and see everyone smile with his jokes and creative humor. He last worked as a security officer in the off season. Marvin then relocated to Pennsylvania where he started his new life. Getting up going for his 3 mile walk was his hobby and feeding all the stray animals outside is what he loved the most. Dr. Dolittle Marv was his nickname. He loved his cat Max, and his late dog Rukus. Marvin is survived by a son, Ronald, husband of Mariel Epps, and 4 grandchildren, Quincy, Ariana, Sasha, and Jaydah Marvin is also survived by 2 sisters, Octavia, and Shana. 2 nieces, Tunisha, Rhonda, and 2 nephews Peter, and Ron Dillard The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, March 21st at the Sanders Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 1501 North 11th Street, Reading To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Marvin, please visit our floral store.
