Mary Hugo Obituary

Mary A. Hugo, 82, of East Allen Township, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at St. Luke's University Hospital - Bethlehem Campus in Fountain Hill. She was the loving wife of Richard D. Hugo. The couple celebrated 44 years of marriage on August 21st.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Mary was a daughter of the late George and Susan (Istvan) Balutis. A 1960 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Mary enjoyed a fulfilling life as a devoted homemaker. Family was most important to her and, as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she simply cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Trips to her favorite summer vacation spot in Ocean City, Maryland, created wonderfully fond memories of time spent with her family to last a lifetime. Mary enjoyed crafting, gardening (was particularly proud of growing orchids), and she was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. She was also a faithful member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ - Seemsville, where she was a very active volunteer and served in various capacities.

Survivors: In addition to her husband, Rich, she will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lisa Gilly and husband, Jed, of Walnutport, and Lori Coursen and husband, William, of Fountain Hill; son, Benjamin Hugo and wife, Lauren, of Northampton; nine grandchildren, Daniel Oravec and wife, Kayla, Megan Gilly, Eric Heckman and wife, Carlie, Alex Heckman, Allison Carlson and husband, Philip, Erin Gilly, Brian Heckman, Chris Gilly, and Owen Coursen; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Noah, and Mia Oravec; a brother, David Balutis of Hellertown; along with nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth S. Balutis, and Patrick, an infant.

Services: A Memorial Service in celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Peter's United Church of Christ - Seemsville, 8142 Valley View Road, Northampton, PA 18067. Friends and Relatives are invited to call on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Snyder Church Cemetery, Seemsville. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., Moorestown - Bath. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at: bensingfuneralhome.net.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to St. Peter's United Church of Christ - Seemsville.
