Mary Salkowski-Balzano Obituary
Mary T. Salkowski-Balzano, 63, of Lafayette Hill, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with laryngeal cancer.
Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of Cosmo Balzano and Anne Pagliaro Salkowski and the stepdaughter of Joseph F. Salkowski.
Mary was raised in Conshohocken and will fondly be remembered for her "Conshy hill legs." Throughout her life, she overcame many obstacles with resilience and pride in her Italian roots. Mary had a spirit all her own-tough when she needed to be, never one to take any nonsense, but also one of the most generous and kind-hearted people you could ever meet.
Above all, Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She shared a special and unbreakable bond with her children and grandchildren, each of whom held a unique place in her heart. She even had special nicknames for them, a reflection of the love, humor, and closeness that defined their relationships. She took great joy in sharing their lives and accomplishments on Facebook.
She also loved traveling to the shore, getting her nails done, tanning, gardening, taking photos, Harley-Davidsons, and riding on the back of Harley-Davidsons.
Mary is survived by her children: Crystal Welsh of Norristown, Michael Welsh of Conshohocken, Heather Tyner of Red Hill, Alicia Welsh-Barlow of Audubon, and Tara Donis of Harleysville; her seventeen grandchildren: Jeramy Sica, Morgan Dougherty, Dominic Bussell, Giuliana Bussell, Lamont Green III, Lamaya Green, Mariah Green, Michael Welsh III, Jordan Welsh, Gianna Welsh, Lucas Welsh, Michael Tyner Jr., Bella Tyner, Max Barlow, Yazmin Edwards, Mayson Donis, and Liam Donis; and her siblings: Joseph Salkowski of Oklahoma, Camille Salkowski of Bensalem, David Salkowski of Conshohocken, and Roseanne Salkowski of Conshohocken.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Stephen Bussell.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, November 14th at 7pm at Raffeo-DiCecco Memorial Home, 403 E. Main Street, Norristown, PA 19401. A visitation will precede the service from 6pm to 7pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to Colonial Neighborhood Council, 107 E. 4th Ave., Conshohocken, PA 19428. Mass cards would also be appreciated.
Arrangements are entrusted to Raffeo-DiCecco Memorial Home (610) 630-3259.
