Paul D. Spurgin, 78, of Blandon, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Tower Health, Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA.
Born December 25, 1945 in Inglewood, California, Paul was the son of the late Elender M. (Porter) and Leslie B. Spurgin. He and his wife of 37 years, Kathiann (Barr) Spurgin, were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 27, 1986.
Paul served his country honorably and faithfully as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, having done two tours in Vietnam.
Paul was an environmental engineer, and owned and operated PKL Control for many years. He was a co-founder and executive director of Keystone Warriors, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping wounded military personnel when they need it most. Paul was a member of the Marine Corps League, R.M. Butterweck Detachment, Kenhorst.
Paul was a graduate of Lennox High School, Inglewood, CA, and received his bachelor of science degree in environmental engineering from the University of Colorado.
Paul truly enjoyed golfing, hunting, and going to museums. He loved military history and traveling to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, and the Grand Teton National Park. Most of all, Paul loved spending time with his granddaughters.
In addition to his wife, Kathiann, Paul is survived by his two daughters, Leslie A. Spurgin, wife of Alexander Y. Vera, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Amanda S. Spurgin, Blandon. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Caylee M. Santana and Evelyn R. Fenstermacher, and by his siblings, Jackie S. Burnip, partner of Ronald Pearson, Perris, California and Leslie B. Spurgin, husband of Jennifer Spurgin, Fairborn, Ohio. He also had many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary B. Glenn, Lester E. Robinson, and Patricia A. Vacchio.
A Funeral Service for Paul will be held on Thursday evening, May 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Inurnment with Military Honors will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Paul's family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice and to do yourself and your family a favor and stop smoking while you can.

You have secured your final beachhead. Paul, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom and democracy. The final bugle has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender.
