Philip Haile Obituary

Philip Michael Haile of Chalfont, Pa passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 8 th, 2025. He was 81 years old. Philip was born and raised in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Phil and Adele (Marcincavage) Haile. Phil is survived by his loving family: wife Carol Anne (Manns) Haile; his three sons: Eric and wife, Julie (Lamphere), Darren and wife, Patricia (Whalon), and Nathaniel; his four grandchildren: Sam, Paige, Eli and Peyton; his sister, Christine (Haile) Palacz and her husband John Palacz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Phil was a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1961. While attending Lourdes, he participated on both the golf and baseball teams. He went on to receive degrees from Bloomsburg State College, a BS in Social Studies Education (1965), followed by a master's degree in Colonial History (1968). Phil also played on the golf team at Bloomsburg from 1964-1965. During his senior year at Bloomsburg, Phil began student teaching at Council Rock School District. Upon his graduation, he went on to educating students at Richboro Middle School from 1965-1999. Always involved, he was the Department Chair for the Junior High School from 1968-1999, District Coordinator of Social Studies Education from 1971-1999, Vice Chair of Council Rock Education Association for eight years, and a member of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit Advisory and Evaluation Committee from 1971-1999. In addition to Phil's many administrative duties while teaching, he especially loved the trips he would plan for his students in grades 6-9, including visits to Philadelphia area museums, Colonial Williamsburg, and Gettysburg. Phil was also the Head Coach of the Council Rock High School Golf team for several years. Outside of his professional career, Phil was very active in his community, and at his church, St. Jude's Church and Shrine in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. Phil coached his two sons, Eric and Darren, in DAA little league baseball, shared his passion for golf with all of his sons, with both Eric and Darren going on to play collegiately. He was also the Director of DAA Boys Basketball. Whether it was attending his sons' golf matches, baseball, basketball and football games, and later in life, his grandchildren's golf, hockey, football and basketball games, Phil "Pap" was always there to support and cheer them on! At St. Jude's, Phil served as a parish seminary collector and was on the Adoration Committee. Phil's love for model trains and the Pennsylvania Railroad began with the gift of a Lionel model train in 1948 from his father. Phil's childhood hobby became a lifelong passion, with one of the largest private model train displays in the northeast that he shared with thousands of visitors over 17 years. Phil often said he always left the train room happy, as did so many who made visits to the display an annual holiday event. Enjoy the train ride of eternal life, Phil "Pap." We love you, and will miss you! A Celebration of Life Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Saturday, February 8th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Jude Church and Shrine, 321 W Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA 18914.
