Ralph Green Obituary

Ralph Paul Green, 94, formerly of Walnutport, and Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home, Kunkletown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, March 4, 2025, at The Palmerton Assisted Living, where he resided. He was predeceased by his first wife, the late Doris S. (Edwards) Green, the mother of his children. They were married for 43 years when she passed away in August 1996. He was predeceased by his second wife, the late Nancy J. (McGouldrick) Green. They celebrated their 25th Anniversary just weeks before she passed away in July 2024. Born in Palmerton on July 31, 1930, he was a son of the late Ralph and Gertrude (Hughes) Green. He was the last surviving sibling of Lucy, Betty, Robert, and John. Ralph served in the United States Army in Panama during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Corporal. He was employed as a pipefitter and mechanic in the Power House of the former Western Electric Company in Allentown. He served for many years as President of Walnutport Borough Council, and as Mayor of Walnutport. As hardworking parents raising three children, Ralph and Doris were only able to take a few family vacations, but they were able to enjoy some travelling after Ralph retired. When Doris suffered a major stroke, Ralph became her caregiver. A talented craftsman, he enjoyed model ship building, woodworking and furniture making, painting, and repairing antique clocks. He loved going to camp in Maine every year with Nancy and her family. They have many stories to tell about Ralphie! He took up golfing with Nancy and learned to sail too. He loved to dance and would never turn down an invitation. Ralph and Nancy actually met at a Widows Dance in1997, and they continued dancing throughout their marriage. Survivors: Ralph is survived by his children, Ralph D. (Karen) of Slatington, and Sharon K. Minnich (Ronald) of Palmerton, and son, Landis P. (Bruce Norelius) of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by Nancy's children, daughter, Carol Moore (Andrew) of Bartonsville, and sons, Jay Guthy (Carole) of Chaska, MN, and Paul Guthy, of Bartonsville. He was also the proud Pap of four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one step-great-granddaughter. Several nieces and nephews. Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Graveside Services with Military Honors, at Fairview Cemetery, Slatington, PA 18080. Arrangements, Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton.
