Richard Lentz Obituary

Richard T. Lentz passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025 at the age of 93. He was the husband of Violet Lentz and they celebrated 71 years of marriage this year.

Richard was a son of the late Walter and Vera Lentz. He was a graduate of Allentown High School Class of 1950. Richard served as a National Army Guard for three years. He worked at Emmaus Ford and Vinart Ford as a registered technician and transmission specialist for 42 years.

Richard was very mechanically inclined, and he was artistically talented when it came to designing creative hardscaping inside and outside his home. He enjoyed converting a Railroad Express truck into a motor home. Richard also enjoyed being a member of the Family Motor Coach Association through RVing and visited almost every state. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his grand dogs. The people around him loved his sense of humor and his storytelling.

Surviving are his wife, Violet; daughter, Donna and her husband Kevin; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Richard was predeceased by his son Thomas, brother Frank and sister Lois.

The family has entrusted K.V. Knopp Funeral Home of Allentown with the arrangements. Services were held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Frederick Lingenfelser IV

October 18, 2025

Dear Violet,
I am so sad to see Dick passed on. I was thinking of your family for a couple months but only got to write you just over a week ago. I hope you got my letter with photos of us and including a copy of a photo of Tommy from 1963-64 I took when I was around ten years old. You were also very good best friends of my parents Fred Lingenfelser III and Shirley Lingenfelser both of whom also passed on. Dad also graduated from Allentown High School in 1950 so I see you were friends from school! I was hoping to share stories about my parents with you.
I hope you may still want to. I am 71 years old now. I am married to my wife Jean for 48 years and we have two sons Frederick V and David. We have two grandchildren ages Five and one. We live at 814 Byram Street Reading Pa 19606
God Bless you and your family Violet. I hope in some way this may cheer you up a bit. Sincerely, Fred

Grateful
