Richard Rush Obituary
Richard "Rick" W. Rush, 56, of Hatfield, PA, and formerly of Center Square, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday May 26, 2025, at his parents' home after a long and courageous battle with cancer, entering into the presence of the Lord while in hospice care.
Rick was the devoted husband of Sharon W. (Holden) Rush, with whom he shared 17 years of marriage. Born in Norristown, PA, he was the beloved son of Arthur E. Rush and Catherine M. (Harlow) Rush.
Rick began his education at Open Door Christian Academy in Fort Washington, PA where he studied through 8th grade. He then attended Wissahickon High School in Ambler PA, graduating with the Class of 1987. Rick went on to earn an associate's degree in computer programming from a technical school in Philadelphia.
He began his career as a cashier at the former Clemens Supermarket in Center Square and later worked as a mainframe operator at Webcraft Technologies, Inc. (now Quad Marketing) in Chalfont, PA. Most recently, he was employed with Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC in Willow Grove through Fidelis Companies.
Rick was a former attender of Faith Church in Worcester and, alongside his best friend Randy, proudly served as a member of the Centre Square Fire Company.
Rick had a deep love for animals and was especially devoted to his pets: his cherished dog Greta Faith Rush, his former dog Miles, and his four beloved cats-Ducky, Fleece, BooFace, and Boogala. He had a passion for collecting, with impressive collections of model cars, baseball cards, and memorabilia from Normandy Farm, a place close to his family's heart.
A tech enthusiast, Rick enjoyed working with computers and found joy in selling collectibles on eBay. He passed time during treatments playing Candy Crush, achieving an impressively high score of 1,121,285,976. A music lover, his extensive CD collection was a testament to his eclectic tastes. He also enjoyed watching The Walking Dead and classic comedy shows. Summers found him in his favorite place-floating in the pool and soaking up the sun.
Rick also had a lifelong passion for sports. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Phillies, always cheering on his favorite teams with unwavering loyalty.
Quiet and thoughtful by nature, Rick was known for his dry wit and perfectly timed one-liner jokes. He treasured time spent with his close-knit group of family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his sister, Barbara M. Pletscher & husband, Anthony "Tony" of Hatfield, PA; his two brothers, Robert A. Rush & wife, Cathy of Telford, PA, Norman P. Rush of Telford, PA; and his eight nieces and nephews, Emily M. Rixon & husband, Kynan of Hatfield, PA, Anthony W.
