Richard Trump Obituary
Richard L. Trump, resident of Skippack, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born on January 10, 1952, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Richard C. Trump and Bertha Trump. Rick was the beloved husband of Linda Trump, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 5, 2025. In addition to his "sweetheart", Rick is survived by his children Philip Trump, Daniel (Kirsten) Trump, Zachary (Laura) Trump and Elizabeth (Mitch) LeFevre, and their 16 grandchildren. He also leaves behind two loving sisters, Bonnie Beatty and Karen Houssell. In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Sue Creighton.
Rick graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and furthered his education at Gordon College, with a double major. He also attended Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Rick had such a passion for people, which led to his most fulfilling career as a recreational therapist at Seasons LTSR. He loved his clients and co-workers, and was beloved by them, as well.
Rick was known for having a genuinely loving heart, full of compassion, hope, and joy in abundance. He was gentle, patient, and selfless. He had a way of making each person he came in contact with feel special and cared for. He lived his life for the Glory of God and had an enduring passion to bring others to Christ. Sharing the Gospel of the Good News of Jesus Christ was his life's mission. We know that in his passing, he got to hear "Well done, my good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21) from his Lord and Savior. Easter Sunday was his favorite day of the year, and he peacefully passed away on Resurrection morning, a coincidence he would have delighted in.
Along with living his life for Christ, his family and friends were of utmost importance to him. He treasured family gatherings, particularly when everyone was together, laughing, playing games, and eating good food (especially Linda's famous pies). Rick loved to plan adventures and play games with his children and grandchildren. He even held a longstanding Risk Tournament. The tradition continued for 46 years with his friends and family, with Rick playing his last tournament in March 2025. Not only would he make up his own games, he would also make up stories for his children. These stories are now passed down to the next generation and known as "Papa Stories," his most requested stories being the Mad Moose on the Mountain and Presto Chango. He also started a tradition with his sons and grandsons, going away for a "Father/Son" camping trip each summer. He loved planning family days at Knoebels and watching his grandchildren having fun. Best! Papa! Ever!
The Jersey shore was one of Rick's favorite places. He loved the great outdoors and was a passionate hunter. Rick enjoyed hiking with his wife and lifelong friends, especially in the National Parks. He also loved a good parade (Mummer's being his favorite). Since Rick was a lifelong Eagles fan, it was such a joy for him to watch the Eagles win the Super Bowl this year! Fly Eagles, Fly! Rick loved dancing and all kinds of music, especially old hymns and gospel songs. He could always be heard singing some song or another as he went about his day. He was so full of joy and laughter and loved spreading that to others. He was known for his pranks, jokes, puns, and one-liners all of which live on in his children, but even more so in his grandchildren.
Rick's absence is profoundly felt, but Rick would have us focus more on Christ, than on our grief. He touched so many people's lives in his 73 years on this earth. Each prayer he prayed was a mini sermon, speaking truth and life over others. He is leaving behind a legacy of hope, restoration, and redemption all rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even in his death, he is pointing others to salvation and freedom in Christ. "Well done, my good and faithful servant".
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Cornerstone Church of Skippack, 1326 Stump Hall Rd. Skippack, PA. 19474. A memorial service will follow the calling time at 11 AM at the church.
