Robert Gorman Obituary

Robert E. Gorman, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania. Born On July 1, 1944, in Staten Island, New York, Robert was the beloved son of the late James and Gertrude (Last) Gorman. After earning his bachelor's degree from the College of Staten Island, he proudly served his country in both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Robert dedicated much of his career to public service, rising to the role of Assistant Commissioner for New York City's Adult Probation Department. His steadfast leadership and compassion touched countless lives throughout the city. He retired shortly after the events of September 11, 2001. A man of Catholic faith, Robert lived his life in service to others. Whether assisting New York City's homeless, serving on community task forces, or volunteering with Meals on Wheels, he gave selflessly and wholeheartedly, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. Robert also had a profound passion for photography, finding beauty in everyday moments and meaning in the world around him. His family will forever treasure the timeless memories he captured through his lens- each photograph a reflection of his love, gratitude, and gentle spirit. Outside of photography, Robert was an avid reader, who found joy in traveling and listening to classical music. Robert is survived by his beloved daughters, Heather Jones and her husband Brian, and Tiffany Audette and husband Tom Wojciechowski; his loving sister, Carol Gorman; nine cherished grandchildren-William, Anna, Sarah, Danny, Thomas, Mikey, Emma, John Matthew, and Olivia; and seven great-grandchildren-Adam, Audrey, Billy, Angelo, Ava, Estelle, and Dakota. He is also survived by his dear companion of many years Kathleen Kennedy of Staten Island, along with treasured cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, James and Jack Gorman. Robert will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his generous heart, and the quiet strength with which he touched the lives of so many. A memorial service for Robert will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough.
