Robert Z. Schalles

Robert Z. Schalles, 87, of Bethlehem, passed on Monday, July 14, 2025 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Concetta "Connie" (Cordora) Schalles. They were to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary next month. Born in Nescopeck, PA, he was a son of Frank and Doretta (Kishbaugh) Schalles. Robert earned his bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg State College and began an education career in Middlesex, NJ teaching various business subjects. He began a long career in finance beginning with Chase Manhattan Bank as a commercial loan trainee/branch credit analyst. He then became a Senior Vice-President and Lending Officer for First Valley Bank, Vice-President and General Manager of Interstate Traveler Services in Bloomsburg, and CFO of All American Plazas Inc. of Frystown, PA. He was a lifetime member of the PA Society and the Westside Republican Club. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed golf, fishing, and ornithology. Surviving with his wife is a son Robert J. of Bethlehem; a daughter Stefanie Dwyer and husband Stephen of Collegeville; a brother Craig of Bloomsburg, and sisters; Madelyn Williams of Signal Mountain, TN, and Ethel Balliet of Bloomsburg, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings John, Rodney, Joyce, Clara Mae, and Mary Ann. Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 21, 2025 in the Pearson Funeral Home with a calling hour from 10-11am. Entombment at Bethlehem Memorial Park will be private at the convenience of the family.
