Roberto Vega, 77, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Luke's Fountain Hill Campus. Born on January 1, 1948, in Añasco, Puerto Rico, Roberto lived a life rich in love, kindness, and service.
For over a decade, Roberto worked at Von Graff Greenhouse in New Jersey, where his passion for nature flourished. He later dedicated 29 years of service as a bucket truck operator for North Plainfield Borough, where he retired. Afterward, he continued his devotion to helping others through his faith as a committed member of Green Brook Baptist Church and Grace Christian Fellowship in Bethlehem.
Roberto's love for gardening was unmatched. Every home he lived in became a stunning oasis of life, adorned with fruit trees, vibrant flowers, koi fish, and abundant vegetables. His gardens attracted all kinds of wildlife, creating serene sanctuaries for all who visited. Roberto also found joy in playing the guitar, watching classic cowboy films, and spending time outdoors.
A cornerstone of his community, Roberto was known for his boundless generosity and genuine kindness. He made it his mission to know every neighbor, always ready to lend a hand, whether by caring for homes and pets, shoveling snow, mowing lawns, or simply offering a warm conversation. His thoughtfulness touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love and friendship.
Above all, Roberto was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his three sons, Roberto Vega Jr., Antonio Vega, and William Vega; his brother, Aníbal Vega; his sister, Milagro Ramos; two granddaughters, Joanne Vega and Arianna Vega; and his niece, Nancy Gutierrez.
He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, María Mercedes Vega, his parents Ramon Vega and Ines Rodríguez, and his brother, Héctor Vega.
Roberto's kindness, wisdom, and love will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
