Robyn Hubbard Obituary
A year and a half after receiving a devastating diagnosis of ALS, Robyn Lynn Hubbard (née Komarnicki), 65, of Bethlehem, PA met her beloved Savior and lifelong friend, Jesus Christ, face to face, as He tenderly walked her home on Friday, July 11th, 2025 while her best friend and devoted husband of 42 years, Robert (Bob) D. Hubbard, sat beside her.
Robyn, the eldest of three, daughter of George and Marigrace (Bucher) Komarnicki, of Radnor, PA, hailed from the Golden State of California (Long Beach) and possessed the proverbial "Heart of Gold" Neil Young was searching for in his 1972 number-one Billboard hit.
Since May 3rd, 1960, Robyn's unwavering kindness changed the course of countless lives.
Robyn's all-embracing empathy drew her to the study of literature, psychology, counseling and social work. After graduating from Radnor High School in 1978, she attended Wheaton College in Illinois, where she played tennis on the women's varsity team all four years and received recognition in the Hall of Honor for the 1981-1982 season when her team finished third in the 1982 NCAA Division III National Championships.
While at Wheaton, a tall, dark, and handsome Resident Director who had admired Robyn's hair–and tennis game–from afar asked Robyn's younger sister, Kristyn, also a Wheaton student, to introduce them, and a year after graduation, Robyn and Bob were married on New Year's Day, 1983.
Robyn earned her MEd (Master of Education) degree at Springfield College and worked at a counseling center for youth in Agawam, MA. A few years later, Robyn embarked on one of the great adventures of her life, motherhood. Centering the needs of her children, she took a decade off to be home with them and also partnered with her husband, Bob, in youth ministry through Young Life, before returning to social work full time, mentoring expectant young mothers, at a group home in Spokane, WA.
She later worked for Valley Youth House in Bethlehem, PA, served as a visit coach for foster and adoptive families through a local chapter of Salvation Army Children's Services, became a certified Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) educator in 2014, and eventually joined the staff of Faith Church in Allentown, PA, as the director of foster and adoption services.
In 2023, Robyn and her husband, Bob, a former youth pastor and Young Life area director, fulfilled a dream 15 years in the making: establishing Hope Harvest Farm, a nonprofit farm for family restoration in Fogelsville, PA, where families impacted by trauma find hope, connection, and healing while bonding through playful interaction with each other and a cast of lovable rescue animals.
Robyn's remarkable career of caring for youth, parents, and families, spanning over 40 years, was a testament to her deep, personal faith in God, her wholehearted commitment to hope and restoration, and her unshakable belief in the power of one authentic, nurturing relationship to change the course of an entire life–or entire families lives–forever!
Robyn is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) D. Hubbard of Bethlehem, PA, and their three adult children: Chelsea L. Kirtley of Crystal Beach, FL; Jillian L. Hubbard, of Bethlehem, PA; Robert (Britton) Hubbard (Sidney Hubbard née Freed) of Fogelsville, PA. She is also survived by her sister, Kristyn Komarnicki Blancon (Pascal Blancon) of France and brother, Todd Komarnicki (Jane Bradbury) of Manhattan, NY, along with several nephews and nieces–Julien, Cole, and Jacques Blancon, Mandy and Ed Lenza, Remy and Dashiell Komarnicki, and several brothers- and sisters-in law, including Nancy Lenza of West Springfield, MA, Greg and Robyn Hubbard of Wyomissing, PA, and Barry Hubbard of Springfield, MA.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 at Faith Church (6528 Hamilton Blvd. Allentown, PA, 18106), with visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:45AM and a service to follow at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider continuing Robyn's legacy of love and connection by donating to support the restorative work of Hope Harvest Farm (). Until the farm's non-profit status is finalized (the process is underway), you can send checks payable to Robert D. Hubbard at 1431 Lenox Ave. Bethlehem, PA, 18018. Thank you!
