Rocco Lubrano Obituary

Rocco Vincent Lubrano of Eagleville was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday January 21, 2025. He was 98 years old. Rocco was born to the late Gaetano and Rosina Lubrano (Primavera) in South Philadelphia.
Rocco was a devoted husband of 67 years to his beautiful bride, the late Gertrude Lubrano (Bello). He is survived by his son Joseph Lubrano, daughter Gina Destafney (John), grandchildren Stephanie (Nicholas), Rocco (Casey), Connor, and great grandchildren Joanna, Grant, Julia and Vincent, and many nieces and nephews. Brother to the late Phyllis Parmantier (Bert), Salvatore Lubrano (Evelyn), Theresa Cusick (James) and Michael Lubrano (Concetta). We find comfort knowing he is reunited with his wife as well as his daughter, Baby Janet.
Rocco was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Army as an infantry soldier in Okinawa. He began his professional life as a draftsman while obtaining his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University, attending classes at night. He later went on to become a professional engineer, inventing a patent for microchip removal, and enjoying much deserved success in his career that he was so truly passionate about. He continued to work tirelessly until the age of 83 for Amplifier Research, Unisys and RCA. An avid sport fan, he most enjoyed his Philadelphia Phillies and of course the Eagles. Rocco excelled at playing bocce, bowling, and also enjoyed softball. Throughout his life, Rocco had a gifted talent for home improvement projects with an ability to fix anything. Perhaps most notably, Rocco had an impeccable garden with fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits, that would later cultivate nutritious home cooked meals for family and friends.
Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with his friends. When he wasn't out back in the park playing baseball with his grandkids, he was shooting pool or playing poker with friends from his youth. Not only was Rocco a generous and kind man, he could light up a room with his smile. He was also incredibly spiritual; an usher for Visitation BVM, and a 60 year retreatant at Saint Joseph's in the Hills retreat house in Malvern, PA. Rocco, an ardent source of love and kindness, will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of meeting him, and will carry his memory with them forever.
Friends and relatives are invited to Rocco's Life Celebration on February 15, 2025 at Visitation BVM Church of Norristown, 196 Trooper Rd. from 10 am to 10:50 am followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 am. Inurnment will be private at a later date in the Holy Chapel of St. Patrick's Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Malvern Retreat House at https://www.malvernretreat.com/donate/ or to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at https://www.chop.edu/giving/more-ways-to-give
Services to the family are entrusted to Boyd Horrox Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
