Mrs. Shirley E. (Overly) Berger, 83, of Blandon, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Born August 21, 1941 in Red Hill, PA, Shirley was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Joyce B. (Eichele) Overly. She and her husband of 63 years, Neal C. Berger, were married on May 20, 1961 in Maxatawny Church.
Shirley retired from Sears where she held several different jobs. She graduated from Quakertown High School in 1959. Shirley was a member of Maidencreek Church, Blandon, where she was active with the altar guild. She enjoyed her time with the Blandon Senior Citizens, and playing piano, the organ, and the accordian. Shirley loved lighthouses and traveling, especially taking cruises.
In addition to her husband, Neal, Shirley is survived by her children, Dale A. Berger, companion of Tammy Calnan, Hamburg, Carolyn S. (Berger) Frey, wife of Raymond J. Frey, Fleetwood, and Vicki A. (Berger) Folk, wife of Robert L. Folk, Maidencreek Township. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jared M. Bennicoff, Stephanie L. (Berger) Kershner, wife of Justin Kershner, Justine N. Berger, companion of Tyler Bogoniewski, and Alyssa M. (Folk) Madenford, wife of Steven Madenford, her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Makenna, her brother, Larry Overly, husband of Charlotte Overly, East Greenville, her sister, Sharon Moyer, widow of Kenny Moyer, Kutztown, and by several nieces and nephews.
Shirley's family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Tower Health Hospice for their loving care of Shirley throughout her illness.
Funeral Services for Shirley will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Walbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 14390 Kutztown Road, Fleetwood, with Rev. Bruce Schoup, officiating. Burial will follow in Maidencreek Cemetery. A viewing for Shirley will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Shirley's memory to Maidencreek Church, 261 Main St., Blandon, PA 19510.
