Shirley A. Possinger, 81, of Effort, formerly of Nazareth, quietly passed on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Slate Belt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Washington Township. She was the wife of William N. Possinger with whom she shared 28 years of marriage last November.
Born at home in Bushkill Township, Shirl was a daughter of the late Norman Buskirk and Lorayn M. (Caldwell) Flyte. A talent for working with her hands and a necessity to begin working at a very young age, Shirl was a machine operator at the former Pen Argyl Glove Factory. She was also an extrodinary baker and a welcoming face at Family & Friends Restaurant, where she worked and shared her baked goods for many years, before recently retiring. She was a former member of Bushkill United Methodist Church. Throughout her lifetime, Shirl took care of her nieces and nephews, and she enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Her genuinely caring personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors: In addition to her loving husband, Will, she will be dearly missed by her sister, Norma Sabatine of Martins Creek; along with many nieces and nephews; as well as cousins, including Lillian Hardy and husband, George, of Bushkill Township.
Shirl was predeceased by three sisters, Bernice Compton, Viola G. and Mildred E. Krasnopera; and a brother, Dennis G. Flyte, Sr.
Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014.
