Teryl Meagher Obituary

Teryl Ann (Spry) Meagher, 69, of Dover, DE, wife of the late John W. Meagher, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Gracemarie (O'Donnell) Spry. Teryl Ann was the first female firefighter at Engine Company #2, a member of the EMT and Captain of the Ambulance Squad out of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. She loved animals, and was a volunteer at First State Animal Center and SPCA and also at Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research. Surviving are her siblings Stacie Jacobus, wife of Roland, Kieran Healy, wife of Thomas, Justin Spry, and Kristine Blume, wife of Robert, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers John "Jack" Spry and David Spry and sisters Gracemarie DeCarli and Jennifer Besthoff. Services and interment will be private and back in her hometown of Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Teryl Ann's name to Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, 170 Possum Hollow Rd, Newark, DE 19711 or First State Animal Center and SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934

The few times I visited Teryl in Delaware, what stands out was her love of dogs, especially Papillons. May she be surrounded by her Angel Dogs.
