William Miles Obituary
William E. Miles, Jr., affectionately known as Bill, was 94 when he passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 28, 2025. He resided at Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA.
He was predeceased by his parents, William E. Miles and Jesse (McGarry) Miles. He is survived by his devoted wife of more than 66 years, Pat; his children, Melanie Kolb (John), William E. Miles III (Lynn), and Trish McFillin (Tim); eight beloved grandchildren-Colleen, Brianna, Justin, Kara, Morgan, Colin, Bryce, and Meghan; and his sister, Muriel Loose, and her husband, Robert.
Born and raised in Upper Darby, PA, Bill moved to Wynnewood in 1950, where he and Pat raised their family before relocating to Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale in 2014.
Bill was a proud graduate of the William Penn Charter School and Gettysburg College, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and founder of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. After graduation, he served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Auditor General Department. In 1960, he earned his CPA license, which he maintained with dedication until 2021.
His professional career spanned nearly four decades with Deloitte & Touche, where he worked as a tax specialist from 1956 until his retirement in 1995. Bill was widely respected for his integrity, diligence, and unwavering commitment to his clients and colleagues.
An Eagle Scout and lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, Bill lived a life grounded in his Christian faith, service, honor and community. He was also a passionate toy train enthusiast, serving as national treasurer of the Train Collectors Association for 20 years and volunteering alongside Pat at the National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg, PA.
Family was at the heart of everything Bill did. He loved nothing more than gathering with his children and grandchildren,
creating cherished traditions and memories-like his famous banana pancakes on the side porch, a ritual that will live on in family stories for generations.
Bill's Christian faith influenced all aspects of his life. He so delighted in the simple joys of life: tending to his dahlias and koi pond, feeding the birds, and quietly appreciating the beauty around him. He carried a deep love for his country and a quiet pride in being an American.
Bill will be remembered for his kindness, devotion, dry wit, and the love he held so dearly for his family and community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Research, the Train Collectors Association (TCA) or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ardmore, PA.
Arrangements are entrusted to Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
