My deepest condolences to Vonnie's family. She was a lovely lady. Working together for 25 years creates lasting bonds. Our department with her as our leader was like a family. Will cherish the memories we shared. May she rest in peace.

Vonnie will be greatly missed by the people she enjoined in the maternity department. It was a community of great nurses who will always have a connection with Vonnie from the day she first said, "You are hired." Our paths crossed before I met her, I live in the home that her mother and sisters lived in when she was going to nursing school. Many years later we discovered this, and I mentioned a beautiful ring I found in the attic and described it to her. I found it in a pair of OR nursing shoes. Later she came to me and told me the ring belonged to her sister, it was a gift from her Aunt from Puerto Rico. She was able to return that ring to her sister. Unfortunately I threw out the shoes thinking I would never know who they belonged to. She would loved to have had those shoes because they marked the beginning of her nursing career. Fate works in mysterious ways. I am glad to have known Vonnie, and amazed at our destiny's coming together as they did. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. Her soul is in God's hands and I wish her comfort and peace.

Having had the honor of working for many years as her Unit Secretary, I can say what a lovely, caring, smart lady she was. I'm sorry her family has lost her , in my mind , too soon. I included a picture below of her wrapped in essentially the arms of her staff who loved and admired her. We presented her with this quilt when she retired, also far too soon.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. You were a great friend for years while I worked for you. I can´t believe you are not with us. I will miss everything about you. All our talks we had and the laughs we had. The memories will always be with me.
