Adam Ives Obituary

On September 18, 2025, the world lost one of the brightest souls it has ever seen. Adam Reid Ives was born August 8, 1984 to parents, Charles and Penny Ives. Adam would be the youngest of five siblings. He leaves behind brothers, Clifford and Joseph (Nicole Supik) and sisters, Cynthia and Laura. Adam grew up in the amazing town of Guilford, Connecticut, where he not only touched numerous lives, but the town touched his, fostering a love of music and a sense of hometown pride. Adam found his passion in life playing the saxophone and he would go on to play in bands such as Big Wig , The Science, What It Is and Foxtrotter, a band he spent the majority of his time with -- his lifelong friends. He enjoyed sitting in with bands like The Mushroom Cloud and The Jeffrey John Band. As much as Adam loved playing music, he enjoyed seeing it live. As many of you know him from the music scene, the smile on his face and hugs that were like magic as he embraced you, he would dance the night away. Known at festivals for showing up in his vintage Bluebird Wanderlodge bus and often dressed to a T and ready to party. Adam left a void that cannot be filled by words. His lifelong friends Michael Normandin, Trevor Giles, Matt Coleman, Greg Dowd, his brother Joe and girlfriend Raechel as well as countless others were by his side as he valiantly fought what would be a short cancer battle. Adam leaves behind his life partner Raechel Cappiello and her daughter Sunny Grabowski. Adam and Raechel enjoyed a quiet home life together with their dogs Dozer and Biscuit. They looked forward to hosting holidays for their large blended family, working on the koi pond and taking road trips together. He was a true gentleman and his passing will be felt by all he touched. So hug each other and dance the night away for Adam. Calling hours are Friday, September 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, CT. There will be a celebration of Adam's life on Sunday, September 28th from 12:00 to 6:00 PM at the Guilford VFW Hall located at 104 Mill Road, Guilford. "So why would you care to get out of this place ? You, me and all our friends, such a happy human race. Eat drink and be merry." Dave Matthew's Band.
