Alice Esther Ortiz, 66, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in New Haven, Connecticut. Born on September 22, 1959, in the Bronx, New York, Alice lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. Alice attended Walton High School and continued her education at Bronx Community College. After graduating from high school, she began working at Woolworth Department Store. It was there that she met the love of her life, Miguel Ortiz. Their story began with morning conversations over breakfast at McDonald's before work-simple moments that blossomed into a deep and lasting bond. From those early days of friendship grew a relationship that would span forty-eight years and bring them five beloved children. Alice is survived by her devoted husband Miguel; her sons Richard, Michael, and Kolby; and her daughters Sharlene and Francie. Her family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in spending time with them. Whether it was cooking a big meal for everyone to enjoy or simply sharing music on the weekends, Alice cherished every moment surrounded by those she loved. A woman of warmth and generosity, Alice had a kind heart and an infectious smile. She was known for doing things for others without hesitation and always brought humor and light into any room she entered. Her home was often filled with the sounds of Marc Anthony and Maluma-artists whose music she adored-and the comforting aromas of her delicious cooking. Alice grew up attending Holy Cross Church in the Bronx as part of her Catholic faith. Her upbringing instilled in her values of compassion and community that she carried throughout her life. She found joy in everyday routines-listening to music on weekends, keeping a tidy home, preparing meals for family gatherings-and these simple pleasures became treasured traditions that reflected her love for those around her.
