Amelia Heuchert Obituary

Amelia "Amy" Grace Heuchert, age 89, passed away on October 20, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late John Heuchert for 41 years. Amelia was born on November 6, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter to the late Edward and Catharine (Metz) Rhoads and raised by her loving aunt and uncle, Thomas and Robina Rhoads, along with her brother Tom. Amy worked for the state of CT as a PT aide with children with special needs, along side her mentor and friend, Carm. As time went on, she attended massage therapy classes and opened her own business, Clinton Therapeutic Massage where she treated people with compassion and care. Amy had a fierce love of justice and was rightfully proud of her civil disobedience and love of democracy. She was joined in this by her husband, John, as they held hands tightly through their life together. They lived in various towns in CT as he served as a Methodist minister. She was blessed to spend some of her final years close to the ocean and was deeply appreciative of the beautiful trees of CT. Amelia is survived by her three beloved daughters, Nancy Pendergast (Tom), Jennifer Heuchert-Mason (Tim), and Beth Heuchert (Juvia), loving grandchildren, Kirby and Ruby (Nayaab) Pendergast, John (Sam) and Myles (Angelina) Mason, and Emma and Maja Heuchert. She was also blessed with two great-children, Sage and Jasper Mason. She will be missed by her good friend, Timothee Graze, and her friends at Middlewoods of Newington. The family would also like to recognize the loving care of the HHC aides in her final days. Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a funeral service following immediately at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville. Memorial donations can be made in Amelia's name to Doctors Without Borders or The Heifer Project. The Bailey Funeral Home of Plainville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
