Audrey Foster Obituary
Audrey Ellen Foster nee Coons passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at her home in North Granby, CT.
Audrey was born in Cornwall, NY on January 9, 1938 – the daughter of Sheldon F. Coons and Thyra J. Coons nee Lassey. She was predeceased by her sister Shelby Applegate and her husband Howard Applegate.
Audrey graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1955 and attended Drew University for one year. In July 1960 she married Dann S. Foster who survives her, as does their two children, Timothy D. Foster and his wife Pamela of Southwick, Mass and Sharrilynn Trosell of Willington, CT. Additionally, she is survived by several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Sara Tanner of Raleigh, NC and Shelley Foster of Cape Coral, FL.
Audrey devoted much of her time to her grandchildren in their early years to which they all are very appreciative-whether it was material things or just elder support. She is survived by her grandchildren, TJ Foster and his wife Lauren of Schenectady, NY, Tarynn Sigmon and her husband Brandon of Canton, CT, Stone Foster and his wife Jennifer of West Hartford, CT, Carlynn Redman and her husband Doc Redman of Jacksonville, FL, Grasonn Foster of Raleigh, NC and F. Trenton DeVane of Springdale, AR, they will all miss her devotion and love. In addition, she is blessed with six Great-Grandchildren, Kynzie Sigmon, Ryleigh Sigmon, Adeline Foster, Juniper Foster, Dorothea Foster and Onnis Redman, all of which she adored watching first steps and their development.
Audrey was very active as folk artist, painting and refinishing furniture she collected in her penchant for antiquing locally and in Maine. Her other hobbies were gardening and building rock walls and her garden pond-she absolutely enjoyed working with rocks in her landscaping adventures. Her family lineage was very important to her having traced her ancestry to the early Huguenot families in New Paltz, NY and to early settlements in Ulster County and further to The Mayflower. She supported the Huguenot Street Foundation over the years. This history was very important to her. As a final testament to her life-she was loving, warm and generous and will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched. The support she received from Visiting Angele (Amelyia), the Hospice nurses, the Jordan and Bryant families and many close friends will never be forgotten.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4-6PM at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035.
