Carmen Hernandez Obituary
Carmen N. Hernández, 65, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Orlando Rolón.
Carmen was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on March 25, 1960, a daughter of José Hernández and Arcadia Martínez of Cayey. She moved to West Haven in 1994, and had resided in New Haven for the past twenty eight years.
Carmen was a loving woman, valiant, strong, virtuous, God fearing, and a fighter for the Lord. With faith and hope, there was nothing she feared, because she leaned heavily on the Lord. Carmen was a person who would greet you with beautiful smile, and a "God bless you", demonstrating her love and humility. With family and friends she was ever loving, happy and sweet. Her passion was to live in obedience of the Lord, honoring His life daily, and sharing God's will with others. She was truly loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, in-laws, extended family members, friends and acquaintances, winning over the hearts of many. Carmen was the centerpiece of her family, and will forever live on in their hearts. May her soul rest in peace.
In addition to her husband Orlando, Carmen is survived by a daughter, Olga (José) Ortíz, three sons, Angel (Jahaira) Maláve, Miguel Maláve and Orlando Rolón, all of New Haven, two sisters, Yolanda Bermúdez of New Haven and Maria "Dely" Bermúdez of Cayey, two brothers, José (Nilda) Bermúdez of Cidra, PR and Osvaldo (Nikura Solange) Bermúdez of New Haven, seven grandchildren, Nerelyn Lillo, Angel, Adrián and Vivián Maláve, Ivanka Rolón, Luka Ortíz Rolón and Michael Ortíz, one great-grandson Josiah Boyer, his loving long-time companion Lorna Lee and her daughter Brianna Ortega, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carmen's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 3rd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Manatial de Vida, 855 Grand Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church during visitation time. A prayer service will take place at the church on Tuesday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven.
