Carole Anne Tannen

Carole Anne (Freedman) Tannen, 87, of Simsbury, CT, beloved wife of the late Richard Tannen, DMD, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 27, 2025. Born in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Julius and Ada (Usiskin) Freedman, she was raised in a loving home surrounded by her adoring extended family. Trained at Boston Music School, she was a gifted classical pianist. Her love for music continued through her entire life. She went on to earn her BA in Education from Boston University and always shared stories about her days in the classroom. Carole had a beautiful marriage to her husband, Richard, for 62 years. They raised a family in Albany, NY. Carole pursued her love of music and the arts in community theater, the Temple Beth Emeth choir, and performed at Cohoes Music Hall and The Empire State Youth Theater. She loved sailing, playing tennis, skiing, and travel. Upon retirement, they moved to Manchester, VT and then Simsbury, CT where their children and grandchildren loved to visit their Nanny and Papa. Painting became a new passion for Carole and many beautiful pieces adorn her family's homes. Carole and Richard lived creative lives together that were full of adventures and special times with family and friends. She leaves her two daughters Andrea T. Burrick and her husband Todd of West Simsbury and Lauren J. Zalkind and her husband Drew of Needham, MA; grandchildren Aaron Stutz-Burrick and his wife Jaclyn, Hannah Fischer and her husband Cody, Noah Burrick and fiancé Christopher Calaci, Olivia Burrick, Roxanne Zalkind, and Isaac Zalkind; and one great grandchild Adrian Stutz-Burrick. Shiva will be held privately, and a Memorial Service will be planned at the convenience of the family.
