Catherine Williams Obituary

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, our hearts grew heavy as we said goodbye to a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Catherine D. Williams, affectionately known as "Cat," passed away peacefully at the age of 81, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, and laughter that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Catherine was born on August 18, 1943, in Effingham, South Carolina, to Jimmie Lee Davis and Edith "Addiefair" (McGee) Davis, who both preceded her in death. After her mother's unexpected passing during Catherine's infancy, Jimmie Lee remarried Earline (Timmons) Davis, and together they built a warm and loving blended family. Cat graduated from Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina, in 1965. She discovered a passion for flowers at a young age and worked in a greenhouse before moving to Meriden, Connecticut, in 1966. It was there that she met the love of her life, Leroy. Their love story blossomed, and on June 22, 1968, they married and later welcomed their beloved daughter, Michelle, who was the light of Cat's life. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Cat was employed by Corometrics Medical Systems for over 25 years, earning the admiration and respect of her colleagues. Her strong work ethic and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Cat's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud grandmother to Chanel Catherine, who brought endless happiness to her life. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the sound of laughter-whether from family gatherings, shared stories, or the smooth melodies of her favorite R&B songs by Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, and The Temptations. Cat's love and light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she leaves behind: her devoted husband of 56 years, Leroy; her loving daughter, Michelle; and her precious granddaughter, Chanel Catherine, all of Meriden, Connecticut. She is also survived by her dear sister, Bernice "Bernt" (John) Lucas of Meriden; her brothers, Hamon "Shorty" (Hazel) Davis and Ulysses "Mickey" (Gail) Davis, both of South Carolina; her sister-in-law Mattie Davis of Meriden and a host of cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever treasure her memory. She is reunited in heaven with her three brothers, Cleveland "Slay" Davis, Lewis "L.C." Davis, and Jimmie Lee Davis, as well as her three sisters, Hattie Mae Johnson, Rebecca "Becky" Chalk, and Linda Sue Hunter. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Cat's love and legacy will live on in all who were blessed to know her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 89 Franklin St., Meriden, CT 06450. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church.
