Charlotte A. Collins

Charlotte (Andross) Collins, 95, a lifelong resident of South Windsor, beloved wife of over 61 years to the late Sherman R. Collins, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Friday, May 30, 2025. Charlotte was born on April 3, 1930, in South Windsor, a loving daughter of the late Francis B. and May M. Andross. She was raised in South Windsor and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. Charlotte worked at The Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, and also for the South Windsor Public School system. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and especially a great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Wapping Community Church in South Windsor. Charlotte enjoyed doing word search and Crossword Puzzles. Charlotte loved to read, play dominoes with her family and her many trips to Cape Cod to visit all the Christmas Tree Shops and spend time at the beach. She enjoyed her Oreo cookies, daily bananas and always wanted chocolate ice cream at every meal. She is survived by her three children, Dean A. Collins and his spouse, Carol of South Windsor, David F. Collins and his spouse, Faye of East Windsor and Holly S. Collins Windsor Locks, and her daughter-in-law, Emily K. Collins of Lyndhurst, OH. Charlotte also leaves her two cherished grandsons, Robert M. Collins and his spouse, Samantha, and their son Michael Dean Collins all of Ellington, and Ehren R. Collins of Lyndhurst, OH, as well as two step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Charlotte was predeceased by her son, Timothy A. Collins of Lyndhurst, OH, as well as her brother Norman B. Andross and her sister, Priscilla M. Andross. All are welcome to join her family at the Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Road, South Windsor, CT 06074 on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, for a calling hour from 10-11 am with a service to begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
