Daniel Guglielmo Obituary
In Loving Memory of Daniel Guglielmo, Jr.
June 13, 1977 – June 8, 2025
With broken hearts and unimaginable grief, we share the sudden passing of Daniel Guglielmo, Jr.-devoted husband, loving father, and the soul of our family. Dan passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 8, 2025, just five days shy of his 48th birthday. Despite efforts at Middlesex Hospital, he could not be revived.
Dan lived with quiet strength, fierce loyalty, and an all-in kind of love that wrapped around his family like armor. He could build anything, fix everything, and love with a depth that words barely touch.
His nickname was "MacGyver," because if he could watch a video about it, he could do it-and probably do it better, with just his multi-tool, some electrical tape, and stubborn genius.
Our story started online in the wild west of the early internet-HotOrNot.com, in 2005. I was 21, he was 27, turning 28 two weeks later. We packed five dates into four days and never spent a day apart again. I moved in on his birthday that year, and though we said our vows in 2014, we always celebrated our real anniversary-the day our forever began.
Dan is survived by the two children who were his entire world: Abigail Jeanne (10), who will miss their peaceful fishing trips, and Rocco Giovanni (8), who is lost without their daily wrestling matches. Even our dog, Bella, still waits patiently for the tug-of-war partner who never let her win.
He also leaves behind his wife and best friend of 20 years, Jessica (Stanton); his sister, Angelina Guglielmo and her son, Jody York, of Elmira, NY; his mother-in-law, Jeanne (Farr) Stanton of Bloomfield, CT; his brother- and sister-in-law, James and Kerrie (Wilson) Stanton, and their daughter, Ellerie, of Gales Ferry, CT, and sisters-in-law Erika (Stanton) and Riley Streigle of Bloomfield.
He is also survived by an older son, Anthony Guglielmo of the Watertown area he had lost contact with years ago, a sister in Bethel, CT area, and his estranged mother.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Daniel Guglielmo, Sr. (2014), father-in-law, Mark Stanton (2021), and by our two angel babies who I'm sure were waiting at the Gates of Heaven to greet him with a smile.
His relationship with his original family was estranged, but he built his true family with his own hands, heart, and loyalty.
Dan told us often that we were his purpose-and we never doubted it. He worked endlessly to give us everything he could, to prepare us for anything, and to love us through everything. He knew something was coming, and he tried to leave us ready.
There will never be another like him. We were the lucky ones.
A short viewing will be held on Monday, June 16th, from 5:00-7:00pm at Doolittle Funeral Home in Middletown for a chance to say goodbye. Services will be private and at the family's convenience.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the family.
In Dan's honor, we ask that you hold your people close, speak love without waiting, and build something beautiful-whether it's a home, a life, or just a quiet moment. And remember with a little grit, a lot of heart, and some electrical tape, you can fix almost anything.
