David Cormier Obituary

David H. Cormier, 65, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Cheryl A. (Russo) Cormier, died peacefully after a brief illness at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. David was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Herve and June B. (Anderson) Cormier. He grew up in South Windsor and attended South Windsor High School. David enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1977-1980. He married the love of his life, Cheryl Russo on September 13, 1986. They settled in Windsor Locks where they raised a family. David worked in the aerospace industry his whole career starting at Dynamic Controls of South Windsor and currently employed at Kamatics, A Division of Kaman Corporation where he was an Inspector Specialist. David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and NY Football Giants. He had a passion for bird watching and enjoyed feeding the birds during the winter months. When he was younger, he was a bass fisherman and participated in a bowling league and enjoyed camping with his family. A kind, caring, loving, and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to many he will be dearly missed. Along with his wife of over 38 years, Cheryl, he leaves his sons, Carl D. Cormier of Suffield, and Kevin J. Cormier of Windsor Locks, his sister, Cathy Popoff and her husband Bob of Vernon, his brother, Christopher Cormier of Cape Coral, FL, his mother-in-law, Carol Hall of Windsor Locks, and his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter Russo Jr. and his wife Deb of South Windsor, and Doreen J. Russo of Windsor Locks. He was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Cormier. His family will receive friends on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 9-11 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home beginning at 11am. Burial will take place immediately following with Military Honors at Center Cemetery in South Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mental Health Association Inc., 350 Memorial Drive., Chicopee, MA 01020. www.mhainc.org in David's memory.
