David C. Frost, 66, of Northford, passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant three-year battle with cancer. He met every day with courage, resilience, and a remarkable ability to find beauty and joy even in the hardest moments.
He was the beloved husband of Leslie Grunies Frost, whose love, steady devotion, and gentle care brought him joy, comfort, and strength throughout their years together. More than anything, he wished for more time by her side and with his loyal dog, Lucy.
Born in New Haven, CT, on December 10, 1958, David was the cherished son to the late Charles H. and Eileen L. Kinney Frost. To his mother, he was always "King David," and to his father, he was not just a son, but his best friend.
David grew up in North Haven, where his natural talent for working with his hands, and his endless curiosity, shaped both his life and his work. A proud graduate of Eli Whitney Technical School in Hamden, he spent 17 years as an industrial mechanic before discovering his true calling in photography. What began as a passion quickly grew into a lifelong career. He became a Life Member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), where he earned both his Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees. Known for his keen eye, creativity, and artistry, David was an award-winning photographer many times over, honored repeatedly for the excellence of his craft. Yet, what set him apart was his warmth and his ability to help people feel seen, valued, and comfortable in front of his lens. His images tell stories that will be cherished for generations.
Above all, David was a devoted family man. He was a loving father to Jenilee (Gregory) Mullin and the proudest "Poppy" to his beloved "pumpkins" Sofia, Penelope, Isabel, and Cassius Mullin. Nothing brought him greater joy than making them giggle with his playful antics, taking them on lunch dates and adventures, and creating lasting memories on yearly family trips to Lake Winnipesaukee. His love for them was boundless and his presence in their lives unforgettable.
David was a treasured brother to Doreen Vasil, Patricia (Lawrence) Spinello, and Kevin (Pamela) Frost. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories, inside jokes, harmless mischief, and laughter that filled every room they entered. He is remembered with fondness by his former wife, Lenore (Jeffrey) Salomon, whose constant presence and care during his illness were a true gift of love. David will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, Gayle (Billy, David's lifelong best friend) Sims and Rosalie Carr, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and one grandnephew and several grandnieces.
David's humor, kindness, and generosity touched everyone who knew him. He had a rare gift for finding beauty in the everyday, whether through his photography, his storytelling, or simply in the way he lived. He made people feel at ease, made them laugh, and most importantly made them feel loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love, joy, and laughter will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge the doctors, nurses, and caregivers from Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven, Connecticut Hospice, and Affirmed Home Care. Thank you for your incredible care and for giving us the gift of more time with our David, Daddy, Poppy, and friend.
