David O'Brien Obituary

David Arthur O'Brien passed away peacefully at his home in Colchester, Connecticut, on December 2, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on September 10, 1937, in Hartford, Connecticut, Dave grew up in Hartford. On October 10, 1964, Dave married the love of his life, Gail Lepak O'Brien. Together, they celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage. Dave is survived by his beloved wife Gail; his children Susan (O'Brien) and Alan Chartier, Timothy and Beth Ann O'Brien, and Todd and Shawna O'Brien; and his cherished grandchildren Michael and Joan Chartier, Elyse (Chartier) and Tyler Maynard, Gabriel and Alyssa Chartier, Seth Chartier, Kira Avery and Trevor Pease, Kathryn (O'Brien) and Michael Little, Lucas O'Brien and fiancée Kayleigh Conaway, Jonathan and Grace O'Brien, Isabelle O'Brien, Rowan and Seamus O'Brien, and Caden, Zoe, and Piper O'Brien, as well as numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave was predeceased by his son Daniel O'Brien, his parents John O'Brien and Frances O'Brien Marcovicz, his stepfather Francis Marcovicz, and his siblings Frances Patno, June Crouse, and John O'Brien. Dave retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after nearly 40 years in roles ranging from design to cost analysis. Beyond his professional life, he was a pillar of his community, volunteering for more than 25 years as a Little League Baseball coach, umpire, and member of the Colchester Parks and Recreation Commission. For over 50 years, Dave was a devoted member of Colchester Bible Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer, deacon, and elder, demonstrating his unwavering faith and commitment to his Savior, Jesus Christ. Dave's interests included cultivating bonsai trees, spending time with family, and following his favorite college basketball teams and lifelong favorite L.A. Dodgers. Dave built a legacy of integrity, service, joy, love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and love for his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. All who love him will miss his hearty laugh, love of a good joke, determination in the face of a terribly tough tongue twister, and his unfortunate fondness for lame puns. Dave will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His godly values and devotion will continue to inspire generations. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on February 15, 2025 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 900 Route 163, Oakdale, CT 06370

I am so sad to hear about Dave passing. He was a wonderful person and his sister was my sweet aunt. Such a wonderful family.
