Davy J. Murdock

Davy J. Murdock, 64, of Farmington, formerly of Burlington and Bristol, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, following a battle with renal failure. Born in Bristol, CT, Davy graduated from Lewis Mills High School and pursued his passion for nature by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from the University of Connecticut. He dedicated many years to the Department of Environmental Protection – traveling as far as the western United States to assist in fighting wildfires. A natural-born helper with a heart for service, Davy volunteered as an EMT and Firefighter with the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department and was a proud member of the American Legion "Son of American Legion" in Bristol. He also earned the rank of Eagle Scout, later serving as Scout Leader for his son's troop. Davy's devotion to youth extended even further; he served as assistant coach for his son's little league team. An avid outdoorsman, Davy was a ski ranger, fisherman, camper, participant in the family tree farm, and enjoyed helping on the race team pit crew. He cheered on the the UCONN Huskies and Boston Red Sox, but his true pride and greatest joy came from spending time with his family – especially in the final months – with his children and granddaughters. Davy was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Lois (Johnson) Murdock and is survived by his children Joshua Murdock, Mayvella Martin, Alicia Dunlap (Robert); his granddaughters Makayla Martin and Harper Dunlap; the mother of his children Sandy Thibodeau and her significant other David Carroll; three siblings and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special appreciation to the caring staff at DaVita and to Davy's friend Jerry, whose compassion and support were invaluable. A gathering of family and friends will be held Fiday, July 18th, from 5-7pm at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
