Debbie Louise Carmon

Debbie Louise Carmon, born on January 10, 1954, to the late Janie Thomas Carmon, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a short illness. With deep Southern roots, her family migrated from North Carolina, where Debbie's passion for Southern cooking flourished. She became well-known for her delicious chopped BBQ, a beloved specialty that brought family and friends together around the dinner table. A no-nonsense kind of person, Debbie was an avid reader with a logical mind who enjoyed tackling complex puzzles, reflecting her thoughtful and analytical nature. She was a hard worker, spending over 20 years at Yale Co-op before it became The Yale Bookstore, which greatly contributed to her love for reading. While she often preferred solitude outside her family, her life was deeply enriched through her role as a grandmother. Following the tragic loss of her daughter, she lovingly stepped in to raise her grandchildren, providing them with unwavering love and support. Debbie was preceded in death by her son, Mark Wesley Lyde, III; and her daughter, Eyana Ayesha Carmon. She is also reunited in spirit with her maternal grandparents, Geneva and Benjamin Carmon; mother, Janie Thomas Carmon; brother, William Carmon (Deidre); uncle, Johnnie Carmon; as well as aunts, Mamie Carmon and Shirley Carmon. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her grandchildren: Melissa Lyde, Kyle Lyde, Cameron Carmon, Benjamin Lyde, Janae Butler, and Mikayla Carmon. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Tammy Thomas; brothers, Samuel Carmon and Frank Thomas; aunts, Carolyn Carmon (Marvin) and Bettie Carmon. Additionally, Debbie is mourned by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will remember her warmth and strength.
