Donna "Roosevelt" Varley

Donna (Roosevelt) Varley, 69, of South Windsor, beloved wife of Raymond J. Varley, died peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Alto in South Windsor, surrounded by her family. She was born in Springfield, MA, on June 24, 1956, daughter to Carol (Bober) Birks and the late Harold Roosevelt. Along with her husband of nearly 47 years, Raymond, she leaves her son, Thomas A. Varley and his wife Lynn of Underhill, VT, and their children, Winston and Adelaide, her daughter, Jenna M. MacWilliam and her husband Jacob of Broad Brook, and their children, Lincoln, Hazen, and Aella. She also leaves her brother, Gary Roosevelt and his wife Kathey of Myrtle Beach, SC, and her brother-in-law, Robert Varley and his wife Sonia of St. Augustine, FL. Donna was always so joyful and fun-loving. With an outgoing personality, she thought of herself as a social butterfly. She loved to travel, especially to warmer places, with Ray always by her side. She felt at home anywhere on the ocean. She had a strong love of music, rocking out to her favorite tunes, and was never too shy to dance. Donna loved sharing funny stories and laughing loudly. She always wanted folks around. Friends will remember her as being so welcoming and throwing the best and wildest parties. When her family grew, she doted upon her five grandkids and wanted them to remember her as their "silly Nana." Inseparable until the end, she and Ray were deeply in love, which was very clear to all who were lucky to have known her. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5-7pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor.
